Lara ScottPlease tell us a little about yourself, your family, your background… I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii – the oldest of 7 children in a very competitive Japanese/American home. I majored in fine arts/graphic design in college and am now starting to do some freelance work.  I work mainly with Adobe programs on a Mac. I live in Draper, Utah – I live just east of Creating Keepsakes magazine offices. My husband and I have 2 children – my daughter just turned 20 and will be graduating from college in May 2012 and plans to attend law school and my son is 18 and lives at home (he has Muscular Dystrophy and is in a wheelchair and I am his main caretaker).  I also have 2 dogs – a real dog and a chihuahua who thinks he is a person.

How did you become a scrapbooker or memory-keeper? I was an artist and a stamper and my sister was a scrapbooker and introduced me to it.

How would you describe your scrapbooking style? I don’t know if I really have a set style – artsy with a classic twist?

When do you scrapbook? How much time do you spend on this activity during a typical week? At least 3 times a week.

What is your favorite way to capture the journaling part of your scrapbooking? In my own handwriting.

What story from the past do you most wish had been documented so you and/or your family could enjoy it now?  How my paternal grandparents met.

What is your favorite source of scrapbooking or design inspiration? Home decor and Pinterest.

What is your favorite part of scrapbooking/memory-keeping? Telling the story and the creative process.

What do you find the most challenging about scrapbooking/memory-keeping? Keeping up.

How has your scrapbooking changed since you first started? (or has it?) Changes all the time – depending on my state of mind.

Please share one piece of advice on how to capture everyday real life memories for others new to scrapbooking and/or memory-keeping… How do you decorate your house? That will reflect your style.
