A Penny WITH Her Thoughts

Time Capsule: Weekly Challenge #42… Extended

Money, money, money… it’s something we all want and need! Whether you enjoy spending or saving, this week’s topic of “Shopping and Business” is something everyone can relate to. I’m Andrea Friebus and I’m happy to share some ideas on the LYM blog this week.

PennyOne of my favorite things to spend money on is scrapbook supplies (can anyone relate?). I just love patterned paper and embellishments and I could shop for hours at my local scrap store. But of course, like many people, our household is on a budget and I have limited funds for scrap shopping. While brainstorming ideas for this topic, I came up with the most inexpensive embellishment ever—a penny!

Lost ToothIt perfectly matches the theme of my layout, has the year already included and only cost me one cent! This became the time capsule item I based my page around. The rest of the layout came together quickly after that, as my five year old son has recently discovered the value of money and has been picking up change he finds on the sidewalk (and also trying to lose teeth so he can get money from the tooth fairy!)

Other time capsule ideas I considered were:

  • Tags from new clothing
  • Lottery tickets
  • Receipts from a shopping trip
  • Coupons
  • Expired credit cards

Penny Sketches

Basically, anything that has to do with saving or spending money would work as a time capsule item, even something that you can’t physically include on the page, such as a photo of current gas prices. For me, the whole idea was to document what’s happening in my life now and think about what I would be interested in looking back on in the future.

I’m really looking forward to seeing your creations in the gallery this week. Let’s see what you can come up with!

I am a wife, mother, and scrapbooker and would describe myself as organized, creative, and tired. For more of my ramblings, check out my blog: www.andreafriebus.com.
