Please tell us a little about yourself, your family, your background…   I am a SAHM of three wonderful kiddos and a happily married women of 11 years to the man of my dreams 🙂  I run my own photography studio and feel blessed that I am able to do what I love for a living.   I went to school to be a teacher but soon realized that I should have changed my major when my heart was pulled in another direction … photography.

How did you become a scrapbooker or memory-keeper? I have been keeping a scrapbook since childhood.  It started in a spiral notebook.  Then I was introduced to Creative Memories and became an avid paper scrapper.  One late night I found digital scrapbooking on the Home Shopping Network… wasn’t satisfied with  the results and did my own Google search.  I have been a digital scrapbooker for over 4 years.

How would you describe your scrapbooking style?  My style varies depending on my inspiration but the one thing that remains constant is the focus on the photos themselves and the story behind them.  I don’t get caught up in the design element.  I just create for fun but my main focus is the memory keeping itself.

When do you scrapbook? How much time do you spend on this activity during a typical week?  I scrapbook at all times of the day.  That is why I love digital because I can just jump on the computer and work for little bits here and there.  I would say I spend 5-8 hours a week scrapbooking.

What is your favorite way to capture the journaling part of your scrapbooking?  The key for me is to jot notes down so that I can refer to them later.  I also try to get the layouts done as soon as I can because when the memory is fresh, the journaling is always better.

What story from the past do you most wish had been documented so you and/or your family could enjoy it now?  Hmmmm…. I have been scrapbooking since the age of 10 so nothing really.  Perhaps my childhood because my mom has my pictures in a box.

What is your favorite source of scrapbooking or design inspiration?  Online galleries, Pinterest and CK magazine.

What is your favorite part of scrapbooking/memory-keeping?  I have always said that scrapbooking seems to slow down time.  I am able to relive parts of my life that are flying by me because I am so busy.  I love looking back at my scrapbooks with my kiddos.  They light up and get such a thrill reliving things like our trips, vacations or funny moments.

What do you find the most challenging about scrapbooking/memory-keeping?  Sometimes I get overly inspired and the gaggles of inspiration can overwhelm me.  I want to scrap it all and it just isn’t possible … but I try 😉

How has your scrapbooking changed since you first started? (or has it?)  My design and photo quality sure has improved over when I first started!  But the stories and content are the same.

Please share one piece of advice on how to capture everyday real life memories for others new to scrapbooking and/or memory-keeping… Keep your camera out on the counter and one in your purse!  Moments happen all the time and you just have to be prepared or the moment passes.
