If you haven’t taken a peek in this week’s challenge gallery, I encourage you to do so. There you will find one of the most insightful, story-filled, beautifully designed collections of school-related scrapbook pages I’ve seen anywhere.
For a small collection (just eight pages at last count), there is already quite the variety … everything from moms sending little ones off to school for the first time to memories of relief at moving from public to home-schooling to first day junior high jitters to our Layout of the Week, which features a look back at school days in the 1950s.
It was extremely hard to pick just one favorite this week, but this layout by Patsy (flowersgal) really struck a chord with me because it reminds me of stories my mom has told about going to school back in the “good ‘ol days.”
The idea of having just a handful of dresses (not pants!) to wear day in and day out to school just fascinates me, as does the norm of having an entirely home-sewn wardrobe (sound familiar Mom?). I love how Patsy incorporated the pattern envelopes into her design and all of the fabulous detail in the journaling. {Pssst…. Mom… if you’re reading (and I know you are!), I would LOVE for you to write down your own memories for me so I can make a layout for our albums!!}
Congratulations to Patsy on having the Layout of the Week! She earns 25 bonus points in our Community Participation Program and adds a special award token to her signature.

That’s a beautiful page, thanks so much for sharing it! I too love the patterns, they illustrate beautifully the journaling. The wonderful journaling really took me back in time!
