Call for Real Life Layouts

I’ve got an exciting opportunity for you today!!

As you may already know, plans are already well underway for the 2011 line of Memory Logbooks. A favorite feature of this book is the sample layouts provided to help get the creative juices flowing for our various Weekly Challenges. Because the 2010 book was our first and most of you had never even heard of me before it was published, most of the layouts in that book were of my own design.

But this time around, I’m hoping to find some great pages from people like YOU that will coordinate with the challenges I have planned for the 2011 edition.

Without divulging too much more about the new challenges, today I am inviting YOU to submit your best work to be considered for inclusion in the 2011 line.

Here’s what’s in it for YOU…

  • The chance to have your work seen by lots of other scrapbookers who love real life scrapbooking.
  • The opportunity to influence the final direction of the 2011 Memory Logbook challenges.
  • The potential to expose your favorite products and those who created them to an entirely new audience.
  • Special status in the Log Your Memory community as a contributing artist.
  • An advance copy of the 2011 Logbook in your choice of format absolutely FREE and before the rest of the world sees it.

You need to know …

  • With the exception of receiving a free copy of the new Memory Logbook if one or more of your pages is selected for publication, this is not a paying gig. However, I am in the process of developing an affiliate program for Log Your Memory. If and when that program is launched, contributing artists will have the opportunity to participate with special commission rates for the products in which their work appears. (Sign up HERE to get on a mailing list to receive more information about the Log Your Memory Affiliate Program when it becomes available. This list is open to everyone, regardless of whether you submit a layout for consideration in this call.)
  • If chosen, you will need to sign a release granting Log Your Memory and its parent company, Spring Creek Design, exclusive publishing rights, including print as well as sharing via the Web. This means the selected layout cannot be published elsewhere before nor after the 2011 Logbook is published. (Prior online posting is okay, though.)
  • If selected, your full name (first and last) will be published along with your layout (no exceptions).
  • You will need to provide a complete list of supplies used in your layout, including product names, designers and sources.
  • If your page is selected for publication, you will need to provide the original, full quality file (at least 300 dpi).
  • Selected contributors will be expected to keep their involvement a secret until after the 2011 Logbook is made available to the public.
  • The selection of layouts to be included in the new book is at the complete discretion of the publisher, which means the final product could include all, some or none of the contributed layouts, depending upon how everything comes together.
  • Layouts may be digital or paper; however, if your paper layout is selected, you will need to provide either a very high quality photograph or be willing to mail the original layout to us to be photographed (and returned) by us.
  • Only single page layouts will be considered for this call.
  • Layouts may be either new or previous creations.
  • You are welcome to submit as many layouts as you would like for consideration.
  • You don’t need to be the best scrapbooker on the planet or have the most exciting life stories to be considered for inclusion. If your page fits, it may get selected. If it doesn’t, it’s still a great page … just not the one we’re looking for this time around.
  • We reserve the right to tweak the above information if we deem it necessary.

Selected layouts will …

  • Capture “real” life.
  • Be well designed.
  • Focus more on the story than on the products used to tell the story.
  • Fall under at least one of the following general themes: Favorites, Goals & Challenges, Routines, Mind/Body/Soul, Recreation, Relationships, Travel, Career, School, All About Me, Celebrations, Gratitude.

To submit a layout …

To be considered, please send the following to kristin@logyourmemory.com no later than Sunday, August 15, 2010:

  • Your full name (first and last), email address, LYM username (if applicable), complete mailing address and phone number.
  • The title of your layout(s)
  • A preview image of your layout(s), either as a jpg attachment or a link to where it may be viewed.
  • The categor(ies) you feel best match your submission(s). Choose from the following: Favorites, Goals & Challenges, Routines, Mind/Body/Soul, Recreation, Relationships, Travel, Career, School, All About Me, Celebrations, Gratitude.
  • Please put: 2011 Logbook Submission in the subject line of your email.

Feel free to comment below if you have questions … chances are others will have the same question & will benefit from the conversation. Or if you prefer, contact me at kristin@logyourmemory.com. And good luck!! I can’t wait to see your submissions!!

  5. One question…do you want one LO per e-mail? Or one email with multiple photo info?

    • Hi Tanyia… one email is fine for all of them. Just provide your name, address, etc. once and then list the layout titles, links & categories. Thanks for asking!! πŸ™‚
