So, I'm late to this post. I had read this thread earlier and wondered why everyone switched away from CM. I use mostly CM. I print my digital layouts (always 2 page spreads) and place them in 12 X 12 CM albums inside the relatively new side loading plastic sleeves. I just had to order some new side loading plastic sleeves and was horrified at the price (26 dollars for 15 sleeves). That's comparable to the printing price of a 12 X 12 page. I do love the fact that the only open side of the sleeve faces the binding. Why have other people switched away from CM. Perhaps I should look into American Craft. I started traditional scrapping through CM, so I don't know a lot about other options.

I have also printed a couple of random books through shutterfly or apple, but they were either of a single event or topic. I like to add pages and I scrap out-of-order, so I like the ability to rearrange my scrapbook.

Personally, I switched away from CM because they kept eliminating colors that I liked. For a long time they only offered really dark colors. At the time I switched they also weren't yet manufacturing the side-loading sleeves or the standard sized albums. I didn't want to do 7x7 or the 12ish sized albums.

I think they're albums were/are(?) some of the best on the market, but they are pricey and once I switched I guess it just got easier to not go back.

I have never used a CM book. My albums are all a hodge-podge of whatever struck my fancy at whatever time I was purchasing them. I figure I'd go crazy trying to make them matchy-matchy and it's more fun to buy albums when you aren't stuck on a particular look.
