    Default What's your approach?

So how do YOU approach your scrapbooking?

Do you attempt to scrap every memory? Are you chronological? Story-based? Do you have all your pages in one album or are they sorted by category or theme? Are you current or do you feel like you have a lot of "catching up" to do? What systems or philosophies do you have in place to determine what will and won't make it into your scrapbooks?

Let's hear your approach ... I'm sure we all do it a bit differently!

Ummmmm... its it possible to really be all three. I try to scrap most every memory that I think we will want to remember, I am painfully chronological, but journaling is one of the most important pieces on my layouts.

My albums are sorted by time. I do however have smaller themed albums like vacations, Tony's journey to become a fireman and my all about me pages. The kids also each have albums that contain stories particular to them.

I started to scrapbook before I had kids... so I was lucky enough never to have a point where I fell behind. I always wanted to have just as many pages for the next kiddo so it kept me charged =) I love to scrap current things because my journaling is far more detailed because it is fresh in my memory.

People that see my scrapbooks would say that EVERYTHING makes it in. But, honestly I do cull through the photos quite a bit. I think I just tend to take quite a few =)

I always have a list of layouts that are working in my brain. It helps me keep it organized so I don't forget anything. I just feel the faster I tackle the pages then they don't have the ability to pile up on me and suck away all my creative mojo =)

So Jen... how do you decide which goes into the family album and which into the individual kids? Or do you have duplicates? I'm thinking about things that are family activities but focused mostly on the kids, like a first ski trip, or something that involves more than one child, like if you were comparing the girls or something similar...

I ditto everything Jen said, LOl. I am painfully chronological and i scrapbook alot - like at least a layout a day to stay on top of it all. I take a million pictures of lots of little everyday moments and try to tell stories that i want to remember. I am all caught up to Jan this year, except for my vacation album last year but i like to have a few to pick from and work on, i hate it when i am all caught up and i am looking for stuff to scrap. I do a yearly family album and albums for each of the kids, which is so much easier now that i have gone digital. If the layout speaks to or about a specific child, it goes in their album, the rest go in a family album. I also do a vacation album every year and i have an all about Me album. I love capturing everyday stuff and I love lots of journaling.

It goes in the family album if the activity or event included more than one family member.

Like the V-day one is in the family album.

The ones with Josh and Mario - Josh album
The one of Julia's Date or her V-day party - Julia Album
Hannah's Talking page or pieces of Hannah - Hannah's album

I will put ones in the family like Halloween... but individual pictures of them in their own albums.

    Clear as mud =)

LOL Jen... so when you say individual pictures, do you mean LOs with photos? Or do you incorporate photo sleeves or something like that?

Oh no... I just meant individual shots of that particular kid =) Yes everything is a layout for me.

You just have to come over and check it all out =) Or I guess I can take some pictures of it =P

I'd go with the first option... someday I will.
