I sure hope the forum in general picks up in activity. :) Getting ready to get to work on my Week 1 Real Life Time Capsule layout. I have an idea... just not sure how best to approach it yet.

Is this the thread to chat about Week 1 or should we make another? I had a really hard time with this. I don't do many projects and I tend to not get photos of those that I do. I was going to make my layout about making Christmas Candy (I really want to get that recipe on a scrapbooking page and didn't get around to it in December.) But when I went through my photos I found I didn't take any pictures of the final product, but while I was browsing I found a photo of myself at Michael's choosing my custom framing. And I new I had photos of the day we bought the painting and a photo taken after hanging it. A project that was documented in photos from start to finish! I completed my layout. I used as inspriation a web site I just learned about with magazine ads as inspiration for scrapbook pages. I went very graphic; which isn't my usual style. Here's a link to the ad inspiration site if you want to check it out: Paula Gilarde (http://paulagilarde.com/Wordpress/category/inspiration/)

Yaaay. Kristin I'm so happy the forums are back open. I really missed this aspect of the site and I really hope there is more interest this go around.

This thread is fine, though in the future you'll probably find it easier to follow/find if you start a new thread each week... rather than create those myself, I think I'll let the membership create them as needed/desired...

Okay - this year I'm trying the Weekly Challenges. Although I have scrapped with Paper, now I'm a Digi-Scrapper. My first one is posted today (Thursday, 1/5/2012) and is titled How I Plan A Project. I know I have a lot of Design Principles to assimilate. Right now I've got odd number of statements, arrows and stars and I hope that I've managed to get the flow to run correctly. Any constructive comments/criticisms are welcome.

I only discovered Log Your Memory at mid-year last year, so this is my first full-year on the site. I still need to print my planner & the Time Capsule scrapping pages ...

So, I'm already behind with the challenges from this site. The one thing I have remembered to do is to take at least one photo each day for P366. Right now I'm planning on just putting together weekly layouts unless there's some activity that generates lots of photos. This week's photos -- so far -- are totally boring because we aren't doing *anything* except going to work and the usual household chores. Since I haven't taken today's photo, I'm trying to decide whether I'll take a picture of the dirty dishes sitting beside the sink or the laundry that needs to be folded!!

OK -- so I'm off to find my LYM files and see what it is that you've suggested I be doing this week!

I love to scrap everyday life. I say take a photo of the laundry today and a get someone to take a photo of you doing the dishes another day. Maybe in a couple of generations everyone will have housebots and someone looking at your 2012 P365 album will say "Wow! People used to wash dishes?" After all the day of washing machines with wringers wasn't really all that long ago. Who knows what is coming next.

Wonderful to see that you have opened up the forum, I think it's such a big part of getting support especially if you're just starting. I was hugely disappointed when I could not find the forum because I was convinced it would be here. Was getting frustrated that I could not find it.

But that's in the past and I hope to contribute as much as I can to make it worth for you to have them open.

Will start a new thread with intros?

I'm with Renneke(what a Dutch name!) I LOVE the everyday stuff more than the highlights. Life is made up of everyday stuff and I love to document that. When my routine is disturbed, I feel upset. Not that I'm not flexible but I love my espresso in the morning with my news and mail etc.
I also think it depends on the reasons why you scrap or log or document. I write/journal because I want to leave a legacy for my daughter and grandchild. We live continents apart and I am not as present in their lives as I would like to be. There are so many things they do not know about my life, how it is now here in the US, how it was when I was a teen, what my dreams and goals were, my frist love, dance, job etc. I want to have stacks of books and albums to leave for them so they will know who their mom and Nana was.
We are so lucky now that we can use so many sources of media. we can incorporate a short video on a digital scrapbook page, we can attached voice, photos etc. Of course when you print that out it does not show when use it as digital books and you have a wealth of opportunities.
Just my 2 cents ;-)
