It’s All About Finding Balance

Time Capsule: Weekly Challenge #39… Extended

As soon as I read “Finding the Balance,” I thought about balancing life as a mother.  I had in my mind to have squares/boxes with the parts of my life I need to balance: work, playing with kids/entertainment, household chores/DIY, children “chores,” and a little box for me! I had a template in mind for this: Fiddle-dee-dee’s “Don’t Box Me In” template (shown).

TemplateIt had one more box, so I added TIME as the 5th box – seeing as balance is all about time – time frame, clock time, deadlines, appointment/lesson times, etc. Then I had great fun searching my stash for elements that I could put into each box relating to that part, like clocks for the time box, a book, spectacles and wine for the me box, etc.  I then added two photos of each of my two boys when they were young and now that they are 6 and 11.  Then I added the journaling.

I found this to be an easy challenge as I knew straight away what to do.  It did take time to find all elements – but that’s my lack of organization!! But I did enjoy it.  I journal from the heart. In other words, I journal for me – not for my children nor for the public. Therefore it flows and I can put what I want to without worrying or changing anything.

As a second choice I was thinking of doing a page about an ordinary everyday day.  Other ideas I had for this challenge were to write a letter to myself when I was pregnant with my first child or writing a letter to my children for when they are fathers about my life as a mother/their mother.
