Why We Scrapbook

Our Weekly Challenge this week is one of my favorites … scrapping about WHY we scrapbook!

Because everyone has their own individual reasons for scrapping & I love ALL of the pages in the gallery this week, I decided that instead of choosing just one Layout of the Week, I would share all of the pages created for this challenge by the most important people at Log Your Memory … YOU, our members … and then host a little giveaway at the end of this post to help celebrate National Scrapbooking Day, which is tomorrow!

Check out these great layouts … and even better reasons for scrapbooking … and then be sure to visit the challenge gallery to see even more fabulous pages created by our Calendar Girls. And don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom!!

I find scrapbooking incredibly rewarding. Yes it helps record my family history, and yes it shows my family how much I love them, but I also scrap for selfish reasons. It’s how I relax. I feel happy when I create beautiful pages. It’s my own time to do something just for me too.

I scrapbook to record the stories that are only in my head otherwise. Stories of what was happening when I took the pictures of our first daughter in the midst of therapy. Thoughts of life with her and now without her. Stories of what my two daughters are doing now and how they remind me of their sister in heaven. I scrapbook so that things that show God’s presence in our lives are not forgotten. I also scrapbook to remember, Alzheimer’s runs in the family and although I’m probably 3-4 decades away from that I don’t want to ever forget.

I scrap for my two boys – so they can see things we did while they were growing up that they may not otherwise remember when they’re older. I also scrap for me – it’s so relaxing and a good creative outlet for me.

I started scrapbooking because my boys loved looking at their photos when they were young, but now I really do it for the stories. There isn’t a better way to capture the stories of our lives…big or small. Besides it is fun to play with paper.
