Congratulations to Tanya (tbaker8506), winner of the Inspired by Real Life Scrapbook Challenge #2! If you’re wondering what this challenge series is all about, check out this post.
Ready for another source of everyday inspiration? Let’s get started…

With thousands of new movies produced every year in just about every genre imaginable, the Box Office is a part of real life that is just packed with opportunities to get inspired. In addition to the movie content itself, there’s the movie title, one-liners, favorite characters, and promo trailers & posters … all ripe with possibilities. Your challenge this week is to create a scrapbook layout inspired by a movie.
There are numerous ways you can use a movie as a springboard for a scrapbook page. For instance, you could…
- Borrow a movie title as your layout title or journaling springboard.
- Model your page design after a movie poster.
- Create a layout about your favorite movie, actor/actress, or movie-related experience.
- Incorporate your favorite movie lines into your journaling or page title.
- Create a page about something you’ve experienced that is similar to a character in a movie.
A few movie-related tidbits to help get you started…

Babies This would be fun a design to copy, complete with the title.

Charlie Bartlett This would also be a fun design to copy, perhaps to show all the “stuff” that goes through your head. I could easily use that tagline in a layout too…LOL.

Play the Game The design here already looks like a scrapbook layout to me. The tagline could be a fun journaling prompt, as well.

(500) Days of Summer Fun layout idea, fun topic idea (500 days of …), even some interesting photo cropping ideas here.

The Lucky Ones I just took a photo a lot like this last week for Week in the Life. If you’ve never tried it, do so… it can be a lot of fun. This movie title has potential, too…

Mother and Child Another fun design to copy, including the use of the color screens on various photos and interesting cropping.

27 Dresses I am going to have to think of a reason to copy this one just because I think it would be so much fun to journal something like this!
Or how about these movie titles…
- It’s Complicated
- Something’s Gotta Give
- How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
- Lady & the Tramp
- The Truth About Cats & Dogs
- Back to the Future
- Sweet Home Alabama
Or these one-liners…
- “There’s no place like home.” (Judy Garland as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, 1939)
- “What we have here is a failure to communicate.” (Strother Martin as Captain in Cool Hand Luke, 1967)
- “There’s no crying in baseball.” (Tom Hanks as Jimmy Dugan in A League of Their Own, 1992)
- “There’s nothing like a first kiss.” (Drew Barrymore as Lucy Whitmore in 50 First Dates, 2004)
- “Life is not the amount of breaths you take. It’s the moments that take your breath away.” (Will Smith as Alex “Hitch” Hitchens in Hitch, 2005)
Need help coming up with movie ideas? Try Googling the following phrases: movie posters, popular movie lines, movie titles. This list of the “101 Movie One-Liners Everyone Should Know” is also a fun place to start.
